In his 13th manifesto of film making, 分かるにくいフィシュ, director Elliot Cooper writes, "Film is a form which, throughout its entire history, has been restricted by the bogus parameter that it must be understood. As filmmakers it is our duty to radically dispose of this convention; to heal ourselves of this virus. The psychology which prevails in film is not natural but a permanently imposed repetition (and thus imposed value of safety in anticipation) of knowing what will eventuate in advance. This is the only acceptable form of story telling in film. In our view, the only thing that is acceptable, is everything that is not."
